Room Temperature Storage

Cool and Ventilated Place: Store betel nuts in a cool, ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight. This method is suitable for short-term storage, generally lasting about 3 days, but the taste may gradually deteriorate over time.

Divided Storage: If you have a large quantity of betel nuts, you can divide them into sealed bags or containers to reduce air contact and extend their shelf life.

Refrigerated Storage

Storing betel nuts in the refrigerator can extend their shelf life. However, it's important to note that refrigerated betel nuts should be moved back to the refrigerator for 1-2 days before consumption to allow them to regain their flavor. Also, betel nuts should be kept away from other items in the refrigerator to prevent cross-contamination of odors.

Desiccant and Oxygen Detergent for Preservation

Materials Preparation: After cleaning the betel nuts, prepare a desiccant and oxygen detergent.

Sealed Storage: Place the betel nuts, desiccant, and oxygen detergent together in a sealed bag, remove the air from the bag, and then store it in a cool, dry place. This method allows for preservation for over a month, but regular checks are still necessary to prevent the areca nuts from becoming damp or moldy.

Precautions

Areca nuts are best stored in an environment between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius to prevent arecoline volatilization due to high temperatures and hardening of the areca nuts due to low temperatures.

Avoid contact between areca nuts and odorous substances to maintain their flavor.

Regularly check the storage condition of the areca nuts to ensure there are no problems such as mold, off-odors, or insect infestation.
