1. Chili peppers and ginger for preventing and treating Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (white spot disease) in fish.

Early winter and late spring/early summer, when water temperatures are between 15-25℃, are the peak seasons for Ichthyophthirius multifiliis in fish. Diseased fish are visible to the naked eye as numerous small white spots on their bodies, fins, or gills; these are the parasites. At the pond edge, diseased fish will swim sluggishly, float on the surface, and sometimes gather in groups and dart around the edge. Without timely treatment, the mortality rate can reach over 80%. At this time, for every 1 meter of water surface, use half a pound of dried chili peppers and two ounces of dried ginger slices, mix them with four pounds of water, boil, and simmer for half an hour. Dilute the liquid and solids with water and sprinkle the mixture throughout the pond. Repeat this for two consecutive days, once a day, to cure the disease.

2. Garlic and salt for preventing and treating enteritis and droplet disease in fish.

Fish enteritis is one of the four major diseases commonly referred to. Diseased fish have red and swollen anuses, swim alone, move slowly, stop eating, and their bodies turn black. Upon dissection, the intestinal wall is found to be congested and inflamed, devoid of food, and red or purplish-red in color. This disease primarily affects grass carp and black carp. The epidemic season is from April to October. Dropsy, also known as "eruption disease," causes the scales of infected fish to flare outwards, standing upright like a pine cone, accompanied by fin rot, congestion at the base of the fin rays, and sometimes abdominal swelling. This disease is common in carp, crucian carp, and ornamental fish (such as goldfish and tropical fish), and is prevalent at water temperatures of 20-25℃. Infected fish die quickly and have a high mortality rate. Both of these diseases can be prevented and treated with garlic and salt. Specific methods: ① Prevention and treatment of enteritis. For every 50 kg of grass carp or black carp fry, the first method is to mix half a pound of garlic with 2 ounces of salt and feed it to the fish for 3-6 consecutive days. The second method is to chop 5 kg of chives, mix them thoroughly with 2 ounces of salt, and then feed the fish on the feeding platform for 3-6 consecutive days.

② Prevention and treatment of dropsy. Add half a pound of crushed garlic to every 50 kilograms of water and soak the diseased fish several times, 5-10 minutes each time. Alternatively, soak the diseased fish in a mixture of 2% salt water and 3% baking soda for 10 minutes. Or, soak the diseased fish in a 3% salt water solution alone for 10-15 minutes.

③ Prevention and treatment of other fish diseases. Soaking the diseased fish in a 3%-4% salt water solution for 5 minutes, or in a 0.5%-0.6% salt water solution for 15-20 minutes, has a good therapeutic effect on various fish diseases such as water mold and gill mold.

3. Garlic for the prevention and treatment of skin rot and perforation diseases in soft-shelled turtles.

Symptoms of skin rot in soft-shelled turtles include rotting of the skirt, limbs, and head, and redness and swelling or even erosion and inflammation of the abdomen. Symptoms of perforation disease include rotting of the carapace, exposed bone fragments, and thick clumps corroding the shell; in severe cases, the plastron also rots. These two diseases are common in turtle farming, with high mortality rates, directly impacting feed economics. They can be treated with a combination of antibiotics and garlic. Dosage and administration: For every 5 kg of complete turtle feed, mix 50 g of crushed garlic, 10 g of antibiotic powder, and 10 ml of "Biebao" (a traditional Chinese medicine) into the feed (preferably with an additional 100-150 g of binder). Feed this mixture onto the feeding platform and continue for 5-6 days to treat the disease.
