Golden Production Regions and Ecological Advantages

 

The core production areas are concentrated in Haicheng, Xiuyan, and Dagushan Town of Qianshan District in Anshan, Liaoning Province- the sole optimal growing region for Nanguo Pears. Located in the hilly area of eastern Liaoning, the regions feature a northern temperate continental monsoon climate, with annual sunshine hours exceeding 2,600 hours and significant temperature differences between day and night, which facilitates the accumulation of sugar and aromatic substances.

Appearance Characteristics

 

The fruits are nearly round or oblate, with regular and plump shapes, short and thick fruit stems, and shallow, broad calyx depressions, giving them high recognizability. The peel is initially yellowish-green; when ripe, the sun-exposed side is covered with flaky crimson blush, and turns golden and translucent after storage. The "Nanhong Pear", a red bud mutation variety, has bright red peel with a coloration index of 0.89. The fruit surface is smooth and delicate, covered with a thin layer of natural wax and sparse fruit powder, free from obvious rust spots and damage. With fresh and elegant overall color, it boasts strong shelf appeal.

Taste and Flavor

 

Nanguo Pears are most notable for their characteristic post-ripening flavor transformation. They can be eaten crisp and firm right after harvest; after 5–7 days of post-ripening treatment, the flesh turns yellowish-white, becoming soft and tender with almost no stone cells, melting instantly in the mouth. The sweet-sour ratio is well-balanced, delivering a refreshingly sweet taste without greasiness.
